An assessor parcel number (APN) is assigned to each parcel of land by the county assessor for the purpose of identification and tracking. Parcel map books are maintained by the county assessor. Parcel numbers contain several sets of numbers:
The first four digits refer to the map book number. The second set of numbers refers to the block number (the first two digits are the page number). The third set refer to the parcel number. The last four digits are used to identify separate interests when a parcel is subdivided as in a condominium.
